THE BLOG

Get it right, Get it TIGHT:

One thing that is evident is that when it comes to attaining certain successes: You can't do it alone. This can be applied to everything from getting a job, to passing a class (with MORE than a 65, lol). One thing I've learned is that we all have good ideas and if we pool them together we can all achieve what we desire.

In 2006 I made a resolution to work out for real. I had many different people, reading materials, and other resources to help me get to where I want to be one day. I figure getting in better shape is something we all have on our minds, so I wanted to write this blog to help us all get in better shape. I can share what I have learned with you and Vice Versa.

First let’s talk about Nutrition. 85% of a better looking body is diet/nutrition. The realest thing ever said about fitness. You will see amazing gains just by cutting out certain things and switching up your diet. Here are a few tips that I have amassed from all my research.

1) DONT EAT LATE!! - After 9pm that should be your cutoff... 10 the absolute latest! Eating late can cause you to store more fat and is counter productive, so try to avoid this at all costs.

2) MORE MEALS A DAY = QUICKER METABOLISM - Women you should eat 5 meals a day, men 6 meals. This aids in speading up your metabolism. These should be well proportioned meals... NO overeating. Now breakfast lunch and dinner are important, but you must add some snacks in between those (fruits, vegetables, yogurt etc). This keeps your body at work and helps it to remain active. Starvation only leads to the storage of fat (a natural reaction of human bodies), so diet does not = starving or eating less... its eating more smaller meals in non-disgustingly huge proportions.

3) STAY AWAY FROM CERTAIN FOODS - This may be the hardest one for all of us. Those foods we love loaded with fat and sugar is defeating you in your goal of a better body. Here is a list of some foods you should avoid:

Ice Cream
Extremely fatty foods(popeyes, Mickey dees, pizza, etc etc)
Cookies, chips, etc
Donuts, brownies, etc
ANYTHING WITH High Fructose Corn Syrup - the sweetener that stores fat in us real quick!
Soda
junk food in general
alcohol - especially beer and highly caloric alcohol (I will be a realest... just watch what you drink and also the mixed drinks)

4) FOODS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS EAT! These are the foods that you can eat all the time and it will aid in a healthier and better looking body

Oatmeal
Fruits, vegetables
Sweet Potatoes
Egg Whites
Whole grain ANYTHING
Fish, lean poultry
flaxseed, peanuts, etc

basically anything NATURAL is good for you to eat and get into shape.

5) Substitute the bad foods with good ones - If you love ice cream, try frozen yogurt... love popeyes? Bake or grill your chicken. Eat fruit instead of the shit that comes out the vending machine!

Next let’s talk Weight Training. Yes ladies, you have to do it to in order to comprehensively tone your body. 4-5 times a week is the average time people spend hitting the weights. I won't list specific weight plans because there is a million out there. You can Google different plans. The weight training assists in the development of muscle (which aids in burning fat) and helps to develop strength and better sculpt your body.  If you are a beginner, you should focus on total body workout 2-3 times a week as starters, then increase to more difficult plans. Always challenge yourself and switch up workouts every 4-6 weeks, as our bodies are highly adaptable

Finally let’s talk about cardio. This includes running, Stairmasters, rowing machines, bicycles, treadmills, etc. Playing sports is ok, but these specific exercises target heart rate and promote a focus on cardiovascular efficiency and fat burning. For optimal fat burning you should aim to do 30-45 minutes a session. As always, a beginner should start off light then build up.

I also recommend AM cardio. It helps your body burn fat throughout the day and is probably the most effective way. If not that’s cool. 20-30 mins is good to go. Another effective advanced cardio method is 20 minutes of sprinting, where you run hard for 30-60 second then run at a controlled pace for another 60 seconds. This sudden shock to your system is an excellent way to trigger ultimate fat burning…but only if you are ready for it.

Weight training, cardio, and a good nutrition plan are the 3 components that help you to attain the ideal body you desire. This is by no means a get built quick scheme. Following this and more difficult plans takes a certain mental focus also. I also recommend asking tips from those who are in shape. Any advice can assist you. Always imagine that body you want and the sacrifice necessary to attain it. You may also just want to stunt on the beach… either way, it is FAR from impossible to have a better looking and HEALTHIER body.

Let’s do it big for this summer and beyond. After all, I’m trying to hit the beach HEAVY!! ONE
